Evil Ed (Limited Edition Blu-Ray): Review

Out now on limited edition 3-disk set is the 1995 Anders Jacobsson, horror-comedy, “Evil Ed”.  It’s been nearly two decades since I saw this odd flick. I am sure I rented it at my local video store because the title reminded me of “Evil Dead”.  Because I barely remembered anything that happened in the film since the 20 or so years since I had seen it, I felt like I was watching it again for the first time. I even opted for the original cut rather than the newly-extended version which is only two minutes longer than the original.

“Evil Ed” is an odd film, but it doesn’t skimp on the splatter and gore.  I know there are many people who either love “Evil Ed” or hate it.  For me, I feel it never tries to be anything it’s not and wears it’s love for the genre on its’ sleeve.  “Re-Animator”, “Evil Dead” and “Bad Taste” are obvious inspirations and though it might not be as memorable, “Evil Dead” is a worthy addition to any horror fan’s collection.
